Healing and Insight With Psychedelic Meditation
Two Transformations
There are two transformations: healing burdened parts and recognizing the nature of mind as empty luminosity.
Healing burdened parts is the transformation from the unhealthy subtle body to the healthy subtle body.
Recognizing the nature of mind is the transformation from the healthy subtle body to the nondual wisdom body.
Psychedelic meditation with 5-MeO-DMT can accelerate both transformations.
Nature of Mind Practice
Duality is ignorance of the nature of awareness, which is an empty clarity. We don’t want this to be just concepts, so we will do two brief exercises.
Usually, we are caught up in activities and forget that we are aware. Forgetting that we are aware is a state of ignorance.
1. Notice that we are aware. Being aware that we are aware is self-awareness. Self-awareness does not depend on the visual consciousness. Self-awareness does not depend on any of the consciousnesses.
Self-awareness is the primary awareness that hosts the other consciousnesses but does not depend on them. Self-awareness is the clarity aspect of awareness. Clarity is the “everything” of everything/nothing because it knows everything. Clarity is present in every state because every state is the radiance of clarity. Appearances, thoughts, and emotions are the radiance of clarity.
2. Examine this self-awareness. Does it have a form? Can it see itself as a separate object?
Self-awareness is nondual. Self-awareness is featureless emptiness.
Emptiness is the “nothing” of everything/nothing. Because of recognizing emptiness, there is no object to fixate on, so there is natural freedom.
Recognizing empty clarity is called the insight of rigpa, the experience of nonduality.
When recognizing that awareness is emptiness, subject/object duality collapses. The subject is emptiness, so it cannot be separate from any object. Everything appears in a single sphere of nondual being. Everything is the radiance of empty clarity.
We don’t expect the recognition of empty clarity to last very long. At first, the recognition only lasts for a few seconds. When the recognition is lost, we remember and recognize again. Remembering to recognize repeatedly is the practice of short moments, many times. With practice, the recognition lasts for longer and longer. The recognition lasts for a few seconds, then a few minutes, then a few hours. Eventually, the recognition lasts all day from waking up until falling asleep. All day recognition is the realization of a bodhisattva.
Since it is so easy to experience nondual awareness while sober, what is the point of using psychedelics? The progress from daily nature of mind practice is very slow, so most practitioners die before they attain stable realization. Psychedelics can provide intense neuroplastic training in nondual awareness and speed the process up from lifetimes to years.

Burdened parts appear in low doses.
Medium doses begin when thoughts dissolve. It is easy to think, but there is no desire to be conceptual. There is a vast, brilliant, open space with no object of mind. Brilliant, objectless space is the ideal environment to recognize the nature of mind, empty clarity.
High doses begin when the brilliant clarity outshines the body and the environment. It is not necessary to practice with high doses.
People attempt spiritual bypassing of their activated parts by jumping to high doses, which often leads to intense fear. Low doses are the ideal environment to give our burdened parts love and attention to heal them.
Unless we heal our burdened parts, it isn't easy to progress in nature of mind practice. A healthy subtle body is necessary before recognizing the nondual wisdom body.
Healing Burdened Parts With 5-MeO-DMT
The most effective healing happens in low doses using IFS techniques.
Self-awareness and parts.
All parts are good, but can be temporarily burdened.
Activated parts: locate them on or around your body.
Identify parts: exiles, protectors, managers, firefighters.
Unblend from the part by becoming self-aware.
Ask a protector what its job is.
Get permission from the protector to talk to the exile.
Make friends with the exile, listen to its story.
Ask if it would like to give up its burden.
Show the unburdened exile to the protector and ask if it would like to retire.

Stages of realization:
0. No understanding.
1. Conceptual understanding.
2. Direct experience. Concepts dissolve, and the nyams of bliss, clarity, and nonthought may appear.
3. Direct realization. The experiences no longer appear. Recognize the nonmeditation state, the natural state.
Recognition transitions:
No understanding: high dose can be rigpa, but is usually fear.
Conceptual understanding: It is easy to transition to direct experience or direct realization.
Direct experience: It is easy to transition to direct realization.
Direct realization: it is rigpa at all dose levels, including sober.
Psychedelic meditation is most effective at the high end of medium doses because the very bright rigpa is effective neuroplastic training in nonduality.
Psychedelic Meditation Sessions
Low-dose healing sessions with IFS can be done daily or weekly, with or without a facilitator present. Some study and understanding of IFS makes a big difference. It is possible to heal our burdened parts, which have been suffering for decades. Once the burdened parts have softened, there is a natural feeling of okayness and essence love, love that does not need an object. Healing burdened parts accomplishes transforming from the unhealthy subtle body to the healthy subtle body. Psychedelic meditation can speed this process up.
Then it is time for high-dose training in nondual wisdom. Long, high-dose nature of mind practice sessions provide the deepest neuroplastic training in nonduality. Weekly 2-3 hour high intensity practice sessions are the most effective training.
Neuroplastic training in nonduality shows up in daily meditation and life as a relaxed and stable openness. The continuous and compulsive thought loops all self-liberate into clear and spacious awareness. Remaining in nondual awareness all day long is the realization of a bodhisattva. Psychedelic meditation can speed this process up.
Psychedelic Meditation Institute
PMI is an educational resource for anyone who wants to do this work. The members’ area includes detailed meditation instruction videos, recordings of classes, and discussions. There is a facilitator training module with recordings of facilitated IFS and nature of mind sessions. We are a community dedicated to researching the experimental practice of psychedelic meditation and creating educational materials to benefit future practitioners.
