Transmitting the Awakened State

Transmitting the Awakened State

What is the awakened state?

In IFS terms, it is being in Self.

Everyone has Self, because it cannot be damaged or burdened.

Even people who grew up in a toxic environment with no positive role models have Self.

Self is inborn, intrinsic, our birthright.

In meditation terms, it is to be Self-aware and recognize that awareness is emptiness.

Recognizing emptiness is rigpa, the awakened state, our innate perfection.

What are our deliverables as facilitators?

We are mastering a collection of knowledge and skills, which are important.

Our other deliverable is our state of being, the awakened state.

Being firmly in Self while in connection.

What does this look like? Being in resonance with people.

People will feel our state of being, being in Self.

They will feel safe, and it will activate their own connection with Self.

Two Selves communicating openly is the best intimacy and very healing.

We are modeling the awakened state and delivering it.

Sustaining Self means not blending with any part.

We remain identityless, not holding anything in mind.

When our identity parts are activated, we are aware of them but do not blend with them.

Sometimes parts have relative wisdom, and sometimes they are burdened with an agenda.

In either case, we do not blend with or become the part, so Self is in charge.

Examples of blending with a part:

Wanting them to have a specific experience instead of following their natural flow.

Wanting them to take more medicine than they are ready for.

Holding something in mind to say instead of letting our response be responsive to them.

Feeling that we are special or better than others.

Creating an identity around our role as a teacher or facilitator.

Emptiness means identityless.

What do we need to be an instructor or a facilitator? What are the minimum requirements?

Do we need a lot of realization to be a facilitator? No.

Personal understanding and continuous study. We are all students.

We need to improve our understanding of IFS and the nature of mind.

A robust personal practice.

Weekly medicine, daily meditation sessions, and gradually higher doses.

Able to sustain Self and able to unblend.

We need to have a good relationship with our parts and essence love.

Inner compassion for our own parts enables us to have compassion for others’ parts.

We need good motivation to help others be free.

The commitment to remain in Self while in connection with others.

The commitment to remain identityless.

The commitment to be of benefit to others.

The commitment to deep listening.

Not responding out of concepts or habit.

Be spontaneous and creative: no rote responses. The moment is guiding us.

Being awake in Self and connecting with their awake Self.

Facilitation sessions are excellent practice opportunities.

Facilitating is a responsibility to be present.

Sustaining Self while in connection.

Their parts will become activated and activate our parts.

We do not blend with our own activated parts. We remain in Self.

Catching every word and moment of nuance without being distracted.

Being a facilitator is a meditation session.

Facilitation work is a big personal growth opportunity.
